There are a lot of games on the App Store that don’t quite get the attention they deserve. In a lot of cases, great games rank high in Apple’s App Store, but in other cases, wonderful games go unnoticed by the majority of people. BUSTED by Pim Entertainment is one of those games.
In BUSTED, you have one goal, and one goal only: outrun the police for as long as you can.
Along the way, you collect power-ups, such as nitrous or fuel, which provide temporary boosts in game. You also collect money, which can be used to not only upgrade your existing power-ups, but can also be used to purchase permanent abilities or even new cars entirely.
The game runs in a switch-lane style – your car drives forward automatically, but you’re forced to avoid obstacles by switching lanes, which can be done simply by swiping your finger left or right on your device’s screen. Additionally, swiping up will activate nitrous, which can be used to temporarily increase your cars speed, and give it the ability to hit other cars without taking damage. Swiping down will brake, allowing you to maneuver around obstacles more easily.
The game is designed beautifully, making it incredibly immersive. The 3D artwork was done great, and a fast paced soundtrack really intensifies the already intense gameplay. Levels are randomly generated, meaning each time you play will be completely different than before.
Because the levels are always different, it’s hard to get bored playing BUSTED, which makes it very addictive. The game is also a bit more difficult than some of its competitors, which actually enhances it. BUSTED challenges you right away, which makes the game far less boring than a lot of other lane switch games. With an intense gameplay style, as well as the incentive to collecting all the unlockables and boosts, combined with over 20 achievements to unlock, you’ve got a game that will last you for a very long time.
However, like any game, BUSTED does not come without its flaws. Lag is possible on older devices (although really, that’s to be expected with any 3D game). And although the in-game music is great, we wish it was possible to disable it and outrun the cops to our own music. And although the list of collectables and unlockables is extensive, we believe that even more could be added to increase the addictiveness of the game further.
In the end, BUSTED is one of those games that’s hard to put down. With an intense, addictive gameplay style and a beautifully designed enviornment, BUSTED is hard to miss. For the generous price of free, there is no reason not to download this hidden gem.
