We’re in that awkward period of time, about half a year since Apple released the iPhone 5, and about half a year away from when it’s expected Apple’s next iPhone will be released. Because of this awkward time period, it’s really hard to decide if one should buy the iPhone 5 now, or if would be worth waiting for the iPhone 5S to come out this fall. Depending on your situation, you may or may not want to buy an iPhone 5 now. Read on and decide.
If you’re a current iPhone owner, you need to ask yourself, does your current iPhone fit all of your needs? Is the hardware useable for everything you want to do now? Ask yourself, why exactly do you want to upgrade your iPhone? If your current phone works and satisfies all of your needs, but you are still looking to upgrade in the future, there is no reason to upgrade immediately. Waiting for the iPhone 5S will be better for you in the long run. That being said, even if you do get an iPhone 5 instead of waiting, it will still be good for years to come.
If you do not currently own an iPhone, or any smartphone for that matter, I recommend getting the iPhone 5 now. It will likely be an upgrade to any other phone you have now anyway, as the iPhone 5 is one of the best smartphones on the market right now. Although it’s rumored that the iPhone 5S will have new features such as NFC technology and a fingerprint scanner, as well as increased durability, the hardware upgrades from the 5 to the 5S are likely to be incremental. This means as far as performance goes, the 5S won’t be a huge increase over the 5.
Despite this, you still have to ask yourself. Will the new features that the iPhone 5S may possibly possess be worth the wait? You decide.
