It’s official: The iPhone 5S is to be unveiled on September 10th, 2013. However, what can we expect to see at Apple’s unveiling event? What new features are likely to be introduced with the iPhone 5S? Here is a roundup of the most popular iPhone 5S rumors that have been circling around the internet.
Although this rumor hasn’t been mentioned to much in recent weeks, it’s expected that the iPhone 5S will be more durable than the previous versions of the iPhone. While the iPhone 5S is in free fall, there are rumors that it will change direction in the air so it hits the ground at it’s strongest point – reducing the chance that the phone’s internal hardware gets damaged.
Previously, the iPhone had only been black or white. However, it’s expected that the iPhone 5S will also have a new gold color. This gold colored iPhone is expected to appeal to consumers in rural areas, or in countries such as China where the color gold can be seen as a social status signal.
NFC technology, or near field communication technology, is something similar to Bluetooth that will let you use your iPhone to interact with other devices. It’s mainly expected to be used for making quick, secure payments from retail stores.
Last, but not least, the iPhone 5S is expected to come with a fingerprint scanner. This fingerprint scanner may have a lot of different features, ranging from an additional security measure to acting as your password for your iPhone or for iTunes. We’re not exactly sure what all it’s going to be used for yet, but we’re bound to find out on September 10th.
