iOS 7 will be a major upgrade of the operating system your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch will run on. Deemed as the biggest change to iOS since it was introduced, you can guarantee iOS 7 will change the way you use your device. Here are four things you can do to prepare your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch for iOS 7.
1. Check To Make Sure Your Device Is Compatible With iOS 7
Unfortunately, not all iDevices will be able to run iOS 7. iOS 7 is only available on the iPhone 4 and newer, the iPad 2 and newer, and the 5th generation iPod Touch. If your device is older than those mentioned, you won’t be able to upgrade to iOS 7.
2. Create Backups
Any time you update your device’s firmware, there is a chance for something to get wrong. Any time that update is major, the chance for something to go wrong is even higher. Backing up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch in iTunes is a good way to make sure that even if something does go wrong, it wouldn’t really matter because you still get to keep all of your files.
You can backup certain things such as photos and contacts in iCloud, but for a full backup of your iDevice, you should back it up in iTunes just to be safe.
3. Free Up Space
iOS 7 will take up a bit more space than previous versions of iOS, so you should free up space that’s not being used to be sure you can actually put iOS 7 on your device. A full guide to freeing up space on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch can be found by clicking here.
4. Get Organized
It’s always nice to have a device that’s organized, especially if you want to enjoy the new set of features that iOS 7 brings to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Organize your apps, delete the ones you don’t use, move stuff around, and prepare for the wonderful new look your device will get with its new operating system.
